Custom designs leave an impression at Mike’s Printing & Apparel

Owner and operator Mike Petrynka screen prints custom designs on shirts and sells apparel with designs he created

For anyone in the Cornwall and SDG area who has ever thought, “that would make a good t-shirt” but had no idea where or how to make that happen, the answer is simple — Mike’s Printing & Apparel.

“Mike’s Printing & Apparel is a traditional screen printing business that offers custom and original printed apparel,” explains owner Mike Petrynka. “In other words, we screen print t-shirts with customer artwork and also sell original designs as part of a retail offering.”

Screen printing started off as a fun hobby for Petrynka, who was looking for a creative outlet and found it in designing and printing custom t-shirts. The first t-shirt design he made was for Runnicles’ Pale Ale, a beer created by his friend, Brian Runnicles.

Slowly but surely, word began to spread and interest grew, and by the spring of 2015, Mike’s Printing & Apparel was born.

Two of the most popular designs with local residents throughout the years have been the St. Lawrence Brewery t-shirt, which is a re-creation of the original logo that was established in 1908, and the World Famous Cornwall Pizza t-shirt.

“Currently, the business is fully owner operated with an online presence, but there’s plans to move into a proper brick and mortar shop and storefront in the new year,” said Petrynka.

That could happen courtesy of Cornwall’s “Win This Space” contest, which Mike’s Printing & Apparel is currently one of three finalists of. The winner is awarded with a $12,000 cheque for rent in the Cornwall Downtown BIA.

“I would just like to thank my wife, my family, and all my customers past, present, and future for all their support,” said Petrynka.
People are encouraged to follow Mike’s Printing & Apparel on Facebook and Instagram, and to visit the online store frequently, as new designs are offered regularly.
